Ever heard of Paella?

Well if you haven't, it's a traditional Spanish dish consisting of whole shrimp (I mean whole shrimp, head and all), clams, crab sections, chicken (cooked bone-in for added flavor), pork, spicy chorizo, green bits of bell pepper and peas. It's served on a bed of fluffy saffron rice with a basket of sliced baguettes.

Every Sunday afternoon at a restaurant in the Plazuela Machado, Altazor Cafe, Jose Valentino sets up his big paella pan outside on the cobblestone sidewalk. We found it to be okay but we think another restaurant in town has a better paella. The setting is just wonderful though.

Here is Jose Valentino cooking up and serving his paella.

Closeup of the paella. Did I say head and all on the shrimp? Yep.

Enjoying the Paella with some friends.
