Since the "Relay for Life", it's really warmed up in Yakima. Over the past weekend, the temps hit a record high of 106. So it was pretty hot around here as we understand it was in the Seattle area too. However, this week the temps have dropped into the 80's and cloudy. During the really hot temps we enjoyed time relaxing at our pool.
We've both been working out regularly (3 days a week). Greg joined a gym and I've been going to Curves. On our off days we've been trying to walk 1 - 3 miles. So just trying our best to stay in shape and loose a few pounds. Greg has been doing alot of fishing, both fly fishing and regular fishing, whatever that is called. He's fished a few of the lakes up past Naches and a few around Yakima. He even brought dinner home a couple times. Of course, not the fly fishing, I understand you have to let them go. Anyway, he's really enjoying the fishing around Yakima.
Last Saturday I attended, with Greg by my side, my 40th high school reunion. I can't believe it's been 40 years since I graduated from Davis High here in Yakima. Most of the classmates that showed up were the same as 5 years ago. It was nice to see them and catch up on the years.
On upcoming events in our life, this coming weekend we'll be traveling to Portland, Oregon for Greg's annual family reunion. On our way back, we'll stop in to see our new grandson, Lucas and of course his parents, Josh and Kristi. Then, over Labor Day weekend, we'll travel to Idaho Falls with my sister, Deannie and her husband Scott, to visit my other sister, Martha and her husband John and their daughter Ali. We're looking forward to the trek to their cabin in Star Valley, Wyoming.
So we have a little traveling coming up that we are looking forward to. We've also been thinking about the holidays and how we'll work them out with our families. We're planning a Thanksgiving dinner at our home for any of the kids that can make it. Then we're going to try to make it, weather permitting, over to the Seattle area for Christmas. It'll be much easier for us to travel during that time than for the kids.
So stay tuned for pictures of these upcoming events and enjoy the rest of your summer. Fall and winter will be here soon, of which, I'm actually looking forward to. I missed the change of the seasons in Mexico.
Yakima sunset in July.
It's nothing like the sunsets in Mazatlan but they're still pretty spectacular here in Yakima. This one was taken from our pool area.
