Our granddaughter Serena comes to stay with us.....

Image
Sorry I haven't posted lately on my blog. I seem to be addicted to Facebook these days. We have our granddaughter, Serena, with us this week here in Yakima. We're sure enjoying her visit. Boy does she love the pool. Such a water baby! While she was with us, my sister, Cindy and her son Alex were in town. We went to dinner at the Red Lobster to celebrate a belated birthday for Cindy. Mom and Al joined us too. The pics below are of that evening. Afterward, we went to our place for a game of Mexican Train.

Venezuela wins the Caribbean Series

Here is a small recap from the Caribbean Series website on Venezuela's win. A sad day for the Mazatlecos (locals) but they are still very proud of their team, the Venados (deer), as are us gringos here in Mazatlan. So no horn honking last night, very quite. On Friday the Tigres de Aragua topped Mexico's Venados de Mazatlan, 5-3, to win the 2009 Caribbean Series championship with five consecutive victories and one day to play. It was Venezuela's first Caribbean Series title since 2006, when it played host to the tourney and won it with a 6-0 record. Overall, the country has won seven titles. It was the first Caribbean Series title for the Tigres. "This is enormous for us and the country," Venezuela manager Buddy Bailey said. "All those league championships we have won have been for the Tigres. This championship is for all of Venezuela." When the round-robin concludes on Saturday, Venezuela will attempt to finish the series with another perfect record when...

Update on the Mazatlan Venados

If you will remember from my previous post, Mazatlan's baseball team, the Venados are in the Caribbean Series which is going on in Mexicali, Baja, California. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/events/winterleagues/?league=cs Well here's how they are doing. They're, as of last night, 3 and 1 winning against Puerto Rico. Tonight they take on Venezuela who have a 4 and 0 record. They really need to beat Venezuela to have a chance to be the champions. Salud to the Venados on their victories so far! Here's a little history on the Venados: http://www.baseball-reference.com/bullpen/Mazatlan_Venados

Thanksgiving Day!

Image
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving. There were a total of 10 of us and we feasted on an 18 pound turkey. We had a little mix up on the timing of the bird so our dinner was a little late in the day but the turkey and all the fixins turned out great. It was a day of football games, visiting and just enjoying each others company. Here are a few pictures from our Thanksgiving day together. Greg takes charge in the kitchen. Mom and Al looking as young as ever. Waiting for the turkey to get done. My brother, Andy and his son Seth Oh, Grandma, I love you....... Time to feast on the turkey and all the fixins. Serena, Jessica and Jackie work on making wine charms to give as Christmas gifts. Then it was time for some games. We played Mexican Train and as you can see in this picture Serena was doing very well. We had a really fun time together!!!
