The wait is over - Baby Lucas is here!!

As we mentioned a few posts ago, we have been waiting for the call letting us know our 6th grandchild is about to be born. The due date for Josh and Kristi's baby boy was July 8th. One week after his due date, on Tuesday, July 15th, we got a call that Kristi had gone to the hospital to be induced. We packed our bags and rushed over the mountains to Renton just to find out nothing was happening. However, the next morning things started to happen and at 4:01 pm on Wednesday, July 16th Lucas Anthony Juette was born at a whopping 9 pounds 7 1/2 ounces and 19 3/4 inches long. He is a beautiful baby boy and he and mommy are doing great. Of course, Josh and Kristi are experiencing some sleep deprivation but that is to be expected.

Congratulations Josh and Kristi and welcome baby Lucas.

Here are a few pictures of our newest grandson. By the way, Lucas was born on the same day as our oldest grandchild, Natalie, who is now 9 years old.

Congratulations to Josh and Kristi! Lucas is adorable (and Natalie was happy to get a new cousin for her birthday!).

Mazatlan's baseball team

The past two evenings have been pretty noisey here on the malecon. Night before last, about sunset, the horns began to honk and flags were flying out windows of cars, pulmonias, etc. with lots of yelling and screaming in pure exhalation! Turns out the Venados (Deer), Mazatlan's baseball team, won their game against Los Mochis (a town about 2 hours north of Maz) which makes them the champions of the Mexican Pacific League. This puts them in the Caribbean Series which starts next month. Their first games of the series will be February 2nd against Venezuela and Puerto Rico in Mexicali, Baja, California. Aroma Spa experience

Today we went in search of massage spas here in Maz. We found an Aroma spa in El Centro (Old Mazatlan) just a block from the Plazuela Machado. It was quite different from any spa I have been to but thought what the heck and we both made appointments for 1 hour, full body massages. The price was quite reasonable $150 pesos each. (That's $15 US). The place is named "Aroma Spa" but the only scent we detected was in the air when you entered the spa. Sort of a pepperminty aroma. The spa rooms (air conditioned) were very interesting with tree trunks from floor to ceiling, draped with fabric and ribbon and strange things hanging from the ceiling. I tried to take a few photos but the spa rooms were quite small so they didn't turn out very well. Hopefully, you can get an idea of the decor. The photo with Greg in it is where they give manicures and pedicures (no air conditioning). Don't think I'll be going there for that. All in all, the experience was not too bad and...

Update on what we have been doing.....

Well thought it was time we posted something about our recent adventures. Since the last posting, everything is still going well with the development of Baby J. The 2nd ultrasound is scheduled for March 26th. Maybe the picture they get this time will be a little clearer. We look forward to seeing the photo. Kristi is feeling better with more energy and they can feel the movement of Baby J now. So that is very exciting for Josh and Kristi. We got news this month that my sister, Deannie, in Yakima has been diagnosed with breast cancer. She has undergone surgery to remove the tumor and lymph nodes and feel confident they got all of the cancer cells. There were none found in the lymph nodes. There is still another test they have to run before Chemo is ruled out. At this date, when she heals from the surgery, she will go through radiation and will be taking a anti-estrogen medication.
